Bastion and Torbjorn Return to Overwatch 2 After Their Junkertown Time-Out
Overwatch 2's Bastion and Torbjorn glitches created absurd matches: endless shells and an unkillable engineer forced Blizzard to bench them briefly.
I will never forget the exact moment I realized Bastion had become a war crime with legs. Overwatch 2 had a rough launch, sure, but technical issues are one thing. Watching a robot fire more than three artillery shells in its ultimate was something else entirely. ๐ค
The same patch brought Torbjorn's Overload ability to double its intended duration, which meant the little engineer was suddenly running around like a caffeinated dwarf who had discovered the secret to immortality. Both heroes were disabled, and while Torbjorn was still available in Quick Play for anyone who wanted a preview of an angry Swedish man being completely unkillable, Bastion was straight-up gone.
Then came the waiting game. Blizzard kept saying they were in the workshop, but I started to wonder if the workshop was just a fancy name for a very long lunch break. Would they ever come back? Would I ever get shelled from orbit by a Bastion that somehow had unlimited artillery again? The suspense was real.

Jon Spector finally gave us the return date: October 25. He wrote, 'Good news, everyone. Bastion and Torbjorn have been located in Junkertown, and we are arranging for them to rejoin the other agents of Overwatch on 10/25.' I like to imagine them just hanging out in Junkertown, causing minor property damage and refusing to answer emails. The forums also confirmed Junkertown was being removed from rotation because of a bug that caused graphic performance issues. So basically, the map itself had to go to timeout too.
But the chaos did not end there. Sombra decided she wanted to be a payload passenger, thanks to a glitch that let her teleport inside the payload. I kept an eye on her, fully expecting her to get benched next. If a hero can just exist inside the objective, what is next? Tracer rewinding time to before the match started? Reinhardt charging through walls? At this point, nothing would have surprised me.
Every time I queued into Quick Play, I half expected to see a Torbjorn with Overload still active from last Tuesday. It was pure chaos, and honestly, I was here for it.
Here is a quick breakdown of the nonsense:
| Hero | Glitch | Why It Was Hilarious |
|---|---|---|
| Bastion ๐ค | Ultimate fired more than three artillery shells | The sky became a fireworks show |
| Torbjorn ๐ ๏ธ | Overload lasted twice as long | Angry Swedish man simply would not die |
| Sombra ๐ | Could teleport inside the payload | She became the payload's new roommate |
The good news did not stop with the return of my two favorite troublemakers. Kiriko, the newest support hero, became available in competitive mode after her Blizzard-mandated preview period. If you bought the battle pass or grinded 50 hours into the free track, you could finally support your team with a hero who summons a spirit fox. I gave her a try and immediately realized she was loads of funโthough my aim with her kunai was less 'sharpshooter' and more 'gentle suggestion.'
Looking back from 2026, I can say this era of Overwatch 2 was pure entertainment. Balance patches and hero reworks have changed the game a lot since then, but the memory of Bastion turning a match into an artillery sandstorm still lives rent-free in my head. Sometimes I miss the chaos, but mostly I am glad the payload no longer has a Sombra hiding inside it waiting to scare me.
If there is one lesson from all this, it is that even the most broken heroes eventually get found in Junkertown. And as a player, all I can do is keep my healers close and my ultimate charge closer. ๐ฎ
